Community Member and Idea Imports

A Community Administrator can import members, ideas, comments, idea owners, votes, and tags into the community by uploading data from other sources using an Excel file.

Member Data

The community administrator can use IdeaScale’s import tools to systematically add or upload member records and to update key member details, such as status and usernames. By following this process, administrators can manage member information for the community more quickly and accurately, minimizing the manual effort required to maintain up-to-date records.

Bulk Import Members

Many members can be invited or added to the community by bulk importing the email addresses of the new members.

Bulk Upload Members Status

The community administrator of the community can upload the new member status or change the existing status.

Bulk Hide Identity

The community administrator gets the ability to conceal the identities of numerous current members of the community by using the bulk import method. The bulk hiding identity feature will be displayed in the Import Tab only if Hide my Identity from Community Settings >> Community Configuration >> Community Info >> Anonymity is enabled.

Bulk Import Roles

The features allow member roles such as Community Admin, Global Moderator, Campaign Moderator, and Group Moderator to be imported for existing members of the community.

Import Log

The import log is where the Community Admin can find information about the internal processing that occurs during an import operation. The log includes information generated by the system:

1. Import member: Import member's operation details information like time.
2. Triggered By: The display name of who performed the import member operation.
3. Total: Total import member count.
4. Successful: Successfully imported member count.
5. Already Member: Trying to import a member who already exists in the community, that existing member count.
6. Invalid email: Invalid email address.
7. Blocked Email Domain: Email count that are not imported due to blocked email domain

Idea Data

The community administrator of the community also has the feature to import or upload ideas, votes, comments, idea owners and idea co-submitters to ideas with the help of an Excel file.

Tags

Community administrators can also import both idea tags and moderator tags for ideas, helping to significantly reduce the time and effort required for manual tagging.
