Community Member and Idea Imports

The import tools let a Community Administrator populate and maintain a community's records quickly and accurately, whether the source is a rosters spreadsheet, ideas migrated from another system, or engagement data such as votes and comments. Each import type is handled through its own dedicated upload flow, described in the linked articles below.

Member Data

The Community Administrator can use the import tools to systematically add member records and update key member details, such as status and usernames, reducing the manual effort involved in maintaining accurate community rosters.

Bulk Import Members

Many members can be invited or added to the community at once by importing the email addresses of the new members.

Bulk Upload Members Status

The Community Administrator can upload a new member status or change an existing one.

Bulk Hide Identity

The Community Administrator can conceal the identities of a large number of existing community members at once using the bulk import method.

Bulk Import Roles

Member roles — including Community Administrator, Global Moderator, Campaign Moderator, and Group Moderator — can be imported for existing community members.

Import Log

The Import Log shows the Community Administrator information about the internal processing of an import operation. The log includes:

1. Import Member: Details of the import operation, including the time it was performed.
2. Triggered By: The display name of the person who performed the import operation.
3. Total: The total number of members included in the import.
4. Successful: The number of members successfully imported.
5. Already Member: The number of records that were not imported because the member already exists in the community.
6. Invalid Email: The number of records that were not imported due to an invalid email address.
7. Blocked Email Domain: The number of records that were not imported because the email domain is blocked.

Idea Data

The Community Administrator can also import or upload ideas, votes, comments, idea owners, and idea co-submitters using an Excel file.

Comments can be uploaded to ideas using an Excel file.

Import Idea Owners

Idea owners can be uploaded to ideas using an Excel file.
