[Best Practices](https://help.ideascale.com/best-practices?hsLang=en) # How Does IdeaScale Prevent Gaming/SPAM/Abuse etc ## Preventing the account from spam and abuse | **What Is Gaming, Spam, and Abuse Prevention?** | | --- | | Gaming, spam, and abuse prevention refers to the set of platform techniques used to prevent fake account registration, off-topic or low-quality submissions, and inappropriate language within a workspace or community. | IdeaScale provides a host of techniques to prevent community members from ballot-box stuffing, spamming, or otherwise abusing a workspace or community. An email message is then sent to the user with a verification link and verification code in the message. A community can be configured to only allow registration from a specified email address domain. [**Help Article on Auto Approved Domain**](https://help.ideascale.com/auto-approval-new-community-settings?hsLang=en) --- ### Poor Quality Posts, Off-Topic Posts Completely off-topic ideas can lower the overall quality of contributions from the rest of a community, so IdeaScale provides several ways to identify and manage this content. (Note: throughout this section, the role reviewing flagged or held content is rendered as Community Moderator, consistent with the prior Off-Topic Moderation and Profanity Filtering rewrites in this project; the exact role name is not confirmed in this source.) #### Off-Topic Moderation The off-topic tool gives a Community Moderator the option to move an off-topic idea to a separate area of the community, out of the main list of ideas. **Note:** An idea moved using the off-topic tool can still be voted on, commented on, and linked to by community members; it is simply excluded from the overall list of top-voted ideas. **[Help Article for Off-Topic Moderation](https://help.ideascale.com/moderation-off-topic-post?hsLang=en)** #### Moderation of New Idea Submissions A community can also be configured for fully manual moderation of new posts. In this mode, a new idea or comment is placed into a queue for approval by the moderation team before it becomes visible. A flagged item is placed into a moderation queue for review. When this setting is enabled, the seven most common profane words are filtered from submissions. The Workspace Administrator can add further inappropriate words or emojis beyond this default list. **Note:** A comment or idea submitted with a filtered word or emoji is placed into the moderation queue for review by a Community Moderator.
