IdeaScale Security SSL/TLS
SSL Setup For Community
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer which provides a secure connection between internet browsers and the websites. It helps in transmitting private data securely online. If a website is secured with SSL, it has a padlock before the URL on the address bar.
SSL is mandatory for all communities
Encrypted Email Communication
IdeaScale email servers are configured with SSL/TLS. TLS allows email between systems to be encrypted to minimize the chances of snooping. IdeaScale emails (new ideas, logins etc.) are sent via our mail servers, which are configured to enable TLS as long as the receiving system supports TLS as well. Most modern mail system (inbound mail servers) support TLS out of the box, but to be sure, please check with your IT department.
IdeaScale supported versions for SSL and TLS are as follows:
-
SSL 2.0 and 3.0
-
TLS is 1.2 and 1.3.
Encrypted Data Transfers
While logging into IdeaScale please use the secured link: https://ideascale.com/. When this secured link is used, all communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted - including any uploads (Excel files, documents, etc.). "https://" will ensure that when you are uploading sensitive data (like employee email addresses or documents), the data is encrypted and follows established security protocols.
SSL For Custom Domains
SSL can be configured for Custom domain communities only on our Enterprise subscription. Contact Sales for more information.
