| Email Author is a feature that allows the Global Moderator and Campaign Moderator to send an email to an idea's Idea Author for further communication or to share information. |
Moderators can send the default generated email as-is or customize it before sending. The Email Author feature must first be enabled by a Community Administrator or Campaign Administrator before it becomes available for a campaign.
Role Permissions
- Global Moderator, Campaign Moderator: Send an email to the Idea Author using the Email Author feature, either using the default message or customizing it before sending.
- Community Administrator: Can also send an email to the Idea Author when also assigned as a Global Moderator or Campaign Moderator. See Exceptions below.
- Community Administrator, Campaign Administrator: Enable the Email Author feature for a campaign using the Allow to E-mail Idea Author switch.

Select the More icon (3 dots) on an idea and select Email Author from the dropdown.
- A new page opens for customization.
- The To address (recipient address) is generated by default.
- The From address (sender address) is also generated by default.
- The Message can be edited if it needs to be customized before sending.
- Select Submit.
Note: An Administrator can also send an email to the Idea Author when assigned as a Global Moderator or Campaign Moderator. See Exceptions below.
Notification
The Idea Author receives a notification via email once the Email Author message is sent.
Enabling the 'Email Author' feature
A Community Administrator or Campaign Administrator enables the Email Author feature for a campaign by selecting the Allow to E-mail Idea Author switch, located at Campaign Management >> Edit Campaign >> Settings >> Miscellaneous.
Exceptions
- Administrator Access: An Administrator can send an email to the Idea Author only when also assigned as a Global Moderator or Campaign Moderator (TO BE VERIFIED — source names the qualifying Administrator roles only as "Both the Administrators").
