What is a Landing Page?
A Landing Page is the first page a member sees after logging in to a community.

Landing Pages allow a Community Administrator to customize a welcome page that sets the tone for the community and introduces its purpose to members. Four templates are available — Armstrong, Berners Lee, Currie, and Eastman — and using a Landing Page is optional.

Role Permissions

  1. Community Administrator: Can edit Landing Pages.
  2. Translation Moderator: Can edit the Landing Page text for their respective language.
  3. Custom Administrator with Look & Feel permissions: Can edit Landing Pages.

Landing Page Templates

Four Landing Page templates are available: Armstrong, Berners Lee, Currie, and Eastman. Each template can be configured with images, text, and content choices, such as which campaigns, ideas, or videos to display, but a custom template cannot be added at this time. Only one template can be published to members at a time, though a Community Administrator can preview and switch between templates freely while deciding which one to use.

Customization

Landing Page templates were designed to be configured without HTML or design knowledge. Community colors appear throughout each template automatically.

Editable and Visibility Icons

A pencil icon indicates that an element can be edited. An eyeball icon indicates whether that element is set to show or hide on the published page.

Adding Images and Video

Images and text can be added directly through a simple text editor and drag-and-drop image upload. Images already stored in the Community File Library can also be added by copying the image's URL and entering it into the template. Video is no longer hosted in the Community File Library; instead, a video can be hosted on an external platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, Qumu, Vidyard, Kaltura, Brightcove, Vbrick, Intrado, or MS Stream, with its URL added to the Landing Page's video section.

Previewing and Publishing

A Community Administrator can preview any Landing Page template from Customization >> Landing Page before it goes live. No page goes live until Publish is selected, and changes take effect immediately once Publish is selected.

Note: The Landing Page does not save automatically. Each element, such as the title text, must be saved individually to track that version, even before the full page is published.

The 20 most recently saved versions of the Landing Page are retained and available for reversion through the Version dropdown menu.

Tag List

The Landing Page tag list displays the 40 most frequently used tags in the community, arranged in descending order of frequency.

Active Campaign Display Order

The order in which campaigns appear in the Active Campaign section of the Landing Page is determined by the following criteria, applied in order:

  1. Campaigns launched within the last 30 days.
  2. Campaigns expiring within the next 7 days.
  3. Campaigns tracked by the logged-in member.
  4. Campaigns with trending ideas.
  5. All remaining campaigns.

Translation

A Translation Moderator can translate Landing Page text so that each member sees the Landing Page in their supported language. New customized text must be added for each supported language, and a Translation Moderator can adjust only the text of the Landing Page.
