IdeaScale Whiteboard Task Manager

Our internal Task Manager for creating, assigning, and tracking tasks related to your collaboration.

Task manager is a tool in IdeaScale Whiteboard that enables teams to create and manage tasks connected to their boards. This tool is available both through the board and through the dashboard and allows users to focus tasks either on a specific board or across the boards available in their community. The task manager is unique for each community dashboard and does not share tasks across communities. All members having access to IdeaScale Whiteboard will have access to Task Manager as well.

Task Manager

In the dashboard, the task manager will be focused on all the boards in the entire campaign by default, but the board view will be filtered to focus only on that specific board. This can be changed at any time but helps teams focus on tasks in specific places.

The Task Manager allows users to apply various filters to organize tasks according to their specific needs. Available filters include My Tasks, Status, Board, Assignee, and Due Date. By default, the Task Manager is set to filter by Status. These filters enable users to determine how tasks are categorized and sorted within each section. By experimenting with different filtering options, teams can gain diverse perspectives on projects and tasks, enhancing their overall management and workflow efficiency.

Creating a New Task

Creating a new task can be easily done by clicking on the Add Task button. Users will be able to create a new task with a unique title and description. Additionally, users can assign multiple variables to each task including a Board, Assignee, Status, Due Date. To create a new task quicker than this, you can select Add Task in any column to instantly create a new task with only the essential information. All tasks can be searched via the search bar, and users can filter just their tasks from the My Tasks filter.

Adding a Board to a new task is mandatory for it's creation. The users that have edit access to the board will also be potential assignee's for the task, and those users will have edit access to all tasks linked with that board.

After creating a task, any board editors will be able to access, edit, and comment on the tasks in their dashboard. Task comments can be accessed by clicking "Show Activity" in the top right of the task.

All of these fields can be edited by any member with access to the task manager. In case a task is assigned to a board that isn’t public, that task will not be visible and will not be editable by members who do not have access to that board.
