| What is Community Deletion? |
| Community Deletion is the process of removing a community from a workspace, either by moving it into a 7-day retention period or by permanently removing it right away. |
A community can be deleted from the Manage Communities page under Settings >> Data. Once deleted, a community moves into a 7-day retention period during which it can be restored, or it can be permanently removed immediately using the Permanently Delete All option.
Role Permissions
- Workspace Administrator: Deletes, restores (Undelete), and permanently deletes communities from the Manage Communities page.

Delete a Community
- From the Workspace Homepage, navigate to Settings >> Data >> Manage Communities.
- Under the Communities tab, hover over the name of the community to be deleted and select Delete.
- On the confirmation page, type DELETE in capital letters, then select Confirm Delete.
Deleted Communities
Once deleted, a community appears under the Deleted Communities tab, where it remains for a 7-day retention period before being permanently removed. During this period, the community can be restored by hovering over its name and selecting Undelete.
Note: To skip the remainder of the 7-day retention period and remove a community right away, select Permanently Delete All. See Permanently Delete a Community below.
Permanently Delete a Community
- Under the Deleted Communities tab, select Permanently Delete All.
- Type DELETE in capital letters to begin the deletion process. A confirmation message displays once deletion starts.
- An email confirmation is sent once the deletion is complete.
Note: Permanently deleting a community cannot be undone.
Exceptions
- Single Community Subscription: If the workspace's subscription includes only one community, the Workspace Administrator cannot delete it directly and must contact the account manager to proceed.

A deleted community stays in the Deleted Communities tab for 7 days before being permanently removed, unless Permanently Delete All is selected to remove it sooner.
Can a deleted community be recovered?
Yes, during the 7-day retention period a community can be restored by hovering over its name in the Deleted Communities tab and selecting Undelete. Once a community is permanently deleted, either by the retention period expiring or by selecting Permanently Delete All, it cannot be recovered.
Is there a confirmation once a community is permanently deleted?
Yes, an email confirmation is sent once the permanent deletion is complete.
What happens if a workspace's subscription includes only one community?
A Workspace Administrator cannot delete it directly and needs to contact the account manager. See Exceptions above.
