What is Member Management?
Member Management is the area of the workspace or community where a member's participation can be banned, unbanned, or permanently deleted.

Member Management allows a workspace or community to control who can access and participate in it. A member can be temporarily banned to suspend their participation while retaining their data, unbanned to restore participation, or deleted to permanently remove them from the system.

Role Permissions

  • Community Administrator: Can ban or unban a member from the community.
  • Workspace Administrator: Can delete a member or a member's contributions from Workspace Member Management.

Note: Both delete options are permanent. See Exceptions below.

  1. Delete Member or Delete Member and their Contributions is selected: The action cannot be undone. The member must be re-invited or must register again to rejoin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a banned member's data removed from the system?

No. Banning a member suspends the member's ability to visit or participate in the community, but the member's personal data, ideas, and comments remain in the system until the member is unbanned or deleted.

Can a deleted member's account be restored?

No. Deleting a member, with either the Delete Member or Delete Member and their Contributions option, cannot be undone. The member must be re-invited or must register again to regain access.

What is the difference between Delete Member and Delete Member and their Contributions?

Delete Member removes only the member's personal data while retaining their ideas and comments. Delete Member and their Contributions removes the member's personal data along with all of their ideas and comments.

Who can unban a banned member?

A member can be unbanned by changing their Current Status from Banned to Member in Member Management and selecting Save Changes.
