An IdeaScale Whiteboard facilitator guide for Buyer Persona Brainstorm
This IdeaScale Whiteboard will be our collaborative workspace for building a comprehensive buyer persona. We'll use its features to capture and organize key information about our target customer.
Brainstorming Objectives:
- To develop a detailed and empathetic understanding of the target customer.
- To identify key customer demographics, psychographics, behaviors, and needs.
- To create a shared vision of the ideal customer for product development and marketing.
- To visually represent the buyer persona on the whiteboard.
Timing: 75 minutes
Brainstorming Instructions - 50 minutes
Introduction (15 minutes)
- Welcome participants and explain the importance of buyer personas in product development and marketing.
- Introduce the key elements of a buyer persona: demographics, psychographics, goals, challenges, and motivations.
- Explain how to use the digital sticky notes and other tools on the whiteboard to capture and organize information.
- Set the context for the specific product or service being considered.
Brainstorming Instructions (50 minutes)
- Activity 1: Demographic and Psychographic Profiling (20 minutes)

- Then, explore their psychographics (values, interests, lifestyle, attitudes, etc.).
- Use digital sticky notes to capture this information on the whiteboard, organizing them into relevant categories.
- Activity 2: Goals, Challenges, and Motivations (20 minutes)

- Determine their key motivations for purchasing or using the product or service.

- Synthesize the gathered information into a cohesive and representative buyer persona.
- Use the whiteboard to create a visual representation of the persona, including a name, image, and key characteristics.
- Ensure the persona reflects the collective understanding of the target customer.
Adjourn (10 minutes)
- Summarize the key characteristics and insights of the developed buyer persona.
- Discuss how the persona will be used to inform product development, marketing, and sales strategies.
- Capture the final buyer persona on the whiteboard and distribute it to participants.
- Thank participants for their contributions.
