Trending Ideas

Ideas that reach the Top 10 carry a Trending label wherever they appear, and their submitters and co-submitters are notified when this happens. The ranking updates each week automatically based on ongoing member activity.

Role Permissions

1. All Roles ( Community administrator, Community moderator & Member): Views the Trending label wherever it appears, and receives email and Activity Bell notifications when an idea submitted or co-submitted becomes one of the Top 10 trending ideas.

How Trending Is Calculated

The Top 10 trending ideas are determined by the number of views each idea receives over the preceding 10 weeks, with more recent views weighted more heavily than older ones. The ranking is recalculated weekly.

1. Member Idea Views: Counted once per member per day, regardless of how many times the same member opens the idea that day.
2. View Trigger: A view is counted when a member visits an idea's details page.

Trending Idea Visibility

The Trending label appears next to the idea title on the Idea list and Details Page, the Moderator Dashboard, and Idea Portfolio. Selecting the Trending label beside any trending idea displays the full list of the top 10 trending ideas.

Trending Idea Notifications

Weekly Trending Email

A Weekly Trending Email is sent to the submitter and co-submitters of each idea in that week's Top 10 list, but only when the week's Top 10 selection differs from the previous week's — that is, when an idea newly enters the list. See Exceptions below for how this applies to ideas that remain trending across consecutive weeks. Delivery timing depends on region:

1. Sunday, 12:01 AM: US, AU, ISG, CA.
2. Monday, 12:01 AM: EU.

Trending Confirmation Email

An idea's submitter also receives an email when the idea becomes trending.

Activity Bell Alerts

Members also receive an alert in the Notification section of the Activity Bell, located in the homepage topbar of the community, when an idea they submitted or co-submitted becomes trending.

Exceptions

1. Repeat Weekly Trending Email: An idea's submitter and co-submitters do not receive a second Weekly Trending Email if the same idea remains within the Top 10 trending ideas the following week. The notification is sent only the first week an idea enters the Top 10 list.
