Commands for IdeaScale App for Slack

The App supports setup and authorization, community subscriptions, idea submission and review, membership approval, and profile and campaign reporting, all issued through /ideascale slash commands in Slack. Role Permissions

1. Workspace Administrator (TO BE VERIFIED): Performs the one-time community setup, retrieves or deletes existing community setups, and approves or disapproves pending members.
2. Community Member (TO BE VERIFIED): Authorizes personal account access, manages personal subscriptions, views ideas and leaderboards, submits ideas, and views profile and campaign information.

Setup and Authentication Commands

The following commands configure the connection between a Slack workspace and an IdeaScale community, and manage a Community Member's personal authorization:

1. /ideascale setup: Performs the one-time setup connecting a Slack workspace to an IdeaScale community.
2. /ideascale setup ls: Retrieves all existing community setups.
3. /ideascale setup delete [yourCommunityAlias]: Deletes a community setup using the community alias.
4. /ideascale login: Authorizes the IdeaScale App for Slack to access the Community Member's IdeaScale account.
5. /ideascale logout: Removes the IdeaScale App for Slack's access to the Community Member's IdeaScale account.

Subscription and Community Commands

The following commands manage community subscriptions, membership approval, and community-level reporting:

1. /ideascale subscribe: Subscribes the Community Member to daily community posts.
2. /ideascale unsubscribe: Cancels the Community Member's daily subscription.
3. /ideascale members: Approves or disapproves pending members.
4. /ideascale leaderboard: Displays the community's leaderboard.
5. /ideascale hot: Posts the community's top three hot ideas.

Idea Commands

The following commands allow a Community Member to review and submit ideas from Slack:

1. /ideascale ideas: Displays pending ideas.
2. /ideascale submit idea: Submits a new idea. See Exceptions below regarding optional idea custom fields.

An idea can also be submitted from the contents of an existing Slack message using the Submit idea from message Slack action.

Profile and Campaign Commands

The following commands display account and campaign information:

1. /ideascale me: Displays the Community Member's profile information.
2. /ideascale campaign activity: Displays activity information for a specified campaign.

Help and Feedback Commands

The following commands provide in-app guidance and a channel for feedback:

1. /ideascale help: Repeats the full help message listing all commands.
2. /ideascale help COMMAND: Displays specific help for the named command (for example, /ideascale help members).

Feedback about the IdeaScale App for Slack can be sent by messaging the IdeaScale bot directly.

Exceptions

1. Optional Idea Custom Fields: When submitting an idea using /ideascale submit idea, any optional idea custom field configured for the campaign will not display on the idea submission form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is authorization required before using account-specific commands?

Yes. /ideascale login must be run to authorize the IdeaScale App for Slack to access the Community Member's IdeaScale account before commands tied to that account, such as /ideascale submit idea or /ideascale me, can be used (TO BE VERIFIED).

How can help be found for a specific command?

Running /ideascale help COMMAND, with the command name in place of COMMAND, displays help specific to that command. Running /ideascale help alone repeats the full list of available commands.

Can more than one IdeaScale community be connected to a single Slack workspace?

/ideascale setup ls retrieves all existing community setups, and /ideascale setup delete [yourCommunityAlias] removes a setup by its community alias, indicating that multiple community setups can exist at once (TO BE VERIFIED).
