[Campaigns](https://help.ideascale.com/campaign-management?hsLang=en#campaigns) # Uploading an attachment to an Idea or Comment ## Settings and view of idea and comment attachment ***Path:* *Workspace Homepage \>\> Navigation Panel \>\> \>\>* Campaign \>\> Community *\>\> Edit Campaign \>\> Submission Form*** | What are Attachments? | | --- | | Attachments are files — such as images, spreadsheets, short videos, or PDF documents — that members can add to an idea or a comment. | Attachments give members a way to support an idea or a comment with supplementary files. The removed element returns to the Idea Submission Elements section on the left side of the Idea Submission Form builder. ***Note: Removing the "Attach an image or supporting document" element from the Idea Submission Form also removes the option from the Comment section. Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .png 2. Microsoft Office: .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx, .xls, .xlsx 3. PDF: .pdf, .ps 4. Open Office: .odt, .odp, .sxw, .sxi, and similar formats 5. Text: .txt, .rtf 6. 3D Printing: .OBJ, .STL, .STP The maximum upload size for an attachment is 50MB. --- ### Exceptions 1. Encrypted Files: Encrypted files are not supported as attachments. They must be added to a zip file before uploading. --- ### Frequently Asked Questions #### Can an uploaded attachment be removed? Yes. An attachment can be removed from the Idea Detail Page using the Delete link to the right of the file, as described in Removing an Attachment above. #### What happens to attachments already added if the "Attach an image or supporting document" element is removed from the Idea Submission Form? Attachments added before the element was removed continue to appear. Only the ability to add new attachments — on both the idea and the comment — is affected. #### Is there a limit on attachment file size? Yes. The maximum upload size for an attachment is 50MB. #### Can an encrypted file be uploaded as an attachment?
