Frequently Asked Questions
Access Search / Manage Strings
Search / Manage Strings is opened from either the workspace-level or the community-level Settings path listed above, depending on the Administrator's role.

Search for Strings
A Workspace/Community Administrator locates specific strings by entering a keyword, which may include a period, into the filter box.

The Regex option can be switched on or off to control how the keyword is matched.
Note: If there is uncertainty about how a string is formatted, the Regex option should be left unchecked to avoid unintended search results.
Selecting the refresh button displays every string matching the entered keyword.
Export Strings
Selecting Export Strings downloads the currently displayed strings as an Excel sheet. Before exporting, the desired export language should be selected; the sheet is generated in whichever language is chosen (the example below shows a Spanish export).

The exported Excel sheet includes the following columns:
- Strings: The list of all exported strings that matched the search.
- English Text: The English-language text for each string.
- English Unverified (or [Language] Unverified): The text of each string in the language selected for export. If a language other than English was selected — Spanish, for example — this column is labeled [Language] Unverified and lists the string's text in that language.
- Customized/Verified: The column in which the Administrator enters the replacement text that should override the default text for that string.
Update and Verify Strings

When the Workspace Administrator or Community Administrator enters replacement text into the Customized/Verified column of the exported sheet and import it via Import Strings action, the Unverified text shown for that string is updated to reflect the entered replacement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it recommended to leave the Regex option unchecked?
Leaving the Regex option unchecked is recommended whenever there is uncertainty about how a string is formatted, since enabling Regex without knowing the exact format can produce unintended search results.
Does entering a keyword automatically display matching strings?
No. After a keyword is entered in the filter box, the refresh button must be selected to display the strings matching that keyword.
Can strings be exported in a language other than English?
Yes. A language can be selected before exporting, and the exported sheet's Unverified column is labeled for whichever language was selected, showing that language's text for each string.
What determines whether Search / Manage Strings displays Workspace or Community Settings?
This depends on the Administrator's permissions; where permitted, the switch within Search / Manage Strings toggles between Workspace and Community Settings.
