[Participation](https://help.ideascale.com/new-user-guides?hsLang=en#participation) # Rich-Text Editor ## Rich text editor location, options, and outputs | What is the Rich-Text Editor? | | --- | | The Rich-Text Editor is a text formatting toolbar available throughout the platform that lets members and administrators apply formatting — such as bold, italics, lists, links, and embedded media — to text entered in a range of different fields. | The Rich-Text Editor offers a wide range of formatting options and is available in several member-facing areas of the platform, as well as in a number of Workspace-level and Community-level administrative settings. The Rich-Text Editor supports Markdown syntax as an alternative way to apply the same formatting options, in the same areas where the toolbar is available. #### Can images be pasted directly into the Rich-Text Editor? Yes. Images can be copied and pasted directly into any area where the Rich-Text Editor is available. #### Is the Rich-Text Editor only available to members? No. It's also available to Workspace Administrators and Community Administrators when configuring a range of administrative settings, such as email bodies, submission form instructions, and Terms of Service. --- **Related Articles** -
