[Security](https://help.ideascale.com/manage-workspace?hsLang=en#security) # Profanity Filtering ## Detailed information on how to use Profanity filtering ***Path: Workspace Homepage >> Navigation Panel >> Settings >> Security >> Access Control >> Blocklist >> Profanity Filtering*** | **What is Profanity Filtering?** | | --- | | Profanity Filtering is a feature within the Blocklist section of Access Control settings that blocks abusive words and restricts inappropriate keywords or emojis from being used within the workspace. | Profanity Filtering blocks certain abusive words and restricts keywords or emojis that could be used inappropriately in the workspace. Use of any of these words automatically blocks the associated idea, comment, or member name. This default filtering also extends to tags, labels, idea attachment notes, and assessment notes. If a member attempts to submit an idea containing a word from the default blocklist, the idea submission form displays a message and the idea is not submitted until the flagged word is removed. --- ### Keyword Filtering The Workspace Administrator can enter additional words, beyond the default list, as profanity in the text field provided in the Keyword Filtering section. A word entered here does not automatically block idea submission; instead, the idea moves into a pending approval state for the Community Moderator to review. Additional Words: Enter one per line in the Keyword Filtering text field. Non-English Profanity: The default blocklist covers only the seven built-in words in English; equivalent words translated into another language are not automatically detected. The Workspace Administrator must manually add each translated word through the Keyword Filtering text field to block it. --- ### Frequently Asked Questions #### What is the difference between the default blocklist and Keyword Filtering? The default blocklist automatically blocks a submission the moment one of the seven built-in words is used. A word added through Keyword Filtering does not block submission outright; instead, the idea moves into a pending approval state for the Community Moderator to review. #### Where does Profanity Filtering apply besides idea submissions? Beyond ideas, Profanity Filtering also applies to comments, member names, tags, labels, idea attachment notes, and assessment notes. #### Does Profanity Filtering block words in languages other than English? No. The default blocklist recognizes only the seven built-in words in English. Equivalent words in other languages must be added manually through Keyword Filtering. See Exceptions above. #### Can emojis be restricted along with words? Yes.
