[Campaigns](https://help.ideascale.com/campaign-management?hsLang=en#campaigns) # Private Campaigns ## Private Campaigns Control the visibility of your campaigns   ***Path:* *Workspace Homepage \>\> Navigation Panel \>\> \>\>* Campaign \>\> Community *\>\> Edit Campaign \>\> Roles and Permissions*** | **What is a Private Campaign?** | | --- | | A Private Campaign is a campaign visible only to members belonging to specific member groups that have been granted access to it. | A Private Campaign is made private by adding a member group that is allowed to view and participate in the ideas of the campaign or campaigns it is granted access to. Visibility for a Private Campaign is controlled by the Community Administrator  --- ### Role Permissions 1. Community Administrator: Sets a campaign to Private and manages which member groups can View Idea, Submit Idea, Submit Comments, or Submit Vote within it. 2. Select the checkbox for a group in a given column to grant that group the corresponding permission: 1. View Idea 2. Submit Idea 3. Submit Comments 4. A precautionary message reading "This email includes ideas from Private campaign, Please don't share this email with others" is included in Digest emails to remind recipients not to share them with other members. Landing Page with Pinned Campaign: For Landing page-enabled communities using the Pinned Campaign option, the Private Campaign block is visible only to members authorized to participate in it. 2. Email Idea Sharing: Ideas from Private Campaigns cannot be shared through the Email Idea option with unauthorized members. --- ### Frequently Asked Questions #### Can ideas from a Private Campaign be shared with members who are not authorized to view it? No. Ideas from Private Campaigns cannot be shared through the Email Idea option with unauthorized members. See Exceptions above. #### Do Community Moderators and Campaign Moderators need to be invited to see a Private Campaign? No. Community Moderators and Campaign Moderators view Private Campaigns by default, regardless of any assigned role or invitation. #### Do member groups need to exist before a campaign is set to Private? Yes. Member groups must be created before a campaign is made Private, since making a campaign private is done by adding a member group that has been granted access to it. #### How can a Private Campaign be identified while browsing a community?
