| The Idea Duplicate Detection Tool is a feature that automatically surfaces potentially similar ideas while an idea is being submitted, using AI analysis to flag matches and explain why they were flagged. |
The tool reduces clutter on the idea board, encourages engagement on existing ideas rather than the creation of near-identical ones, and helps ensure feedback and votes are not scattered across multiple threads covering the same idea.
The Idea Duplicate Detection feature is enabled by default for all user roles and will be visible only to superusers. 
Role Permissions
- Member: Encounters the Potential Duplicate alert box while typing a title or description into the Submission Form.
- Workspace, Community Administrator and Community Moderators: Views similar ideas and similarity percentages in the Idea Portfolio side panel and can select Compare to open the side-by-side AI analysis.

Real-Time Detection During Submission
When a user begins typing a title or description into the Submission Form, the system dynamically scans the campaign for existing entries. If a match is found, a Potential Duplicate alert box appears directly below the title field, displaying the existing idea's title, author, and submission date.
Side-by-Side Comparison & AI Analysis
In the Idea Portfolio, ideas with potential duplicate matches display similar ideas and their similarity percentage in the side panel.
Clicking the Compare option opens a side-by-side view. This view includes an AI-generated explanation highlighting exactly why the system flagged the ideas as potential duplicates, allowing administrators or users to make a quick, informed decision.
