What is Google Analytics Migration from UA to GA4?
---
Google Analytics Migration from UA to GA4 is the process of replacing a community's Universal Analytics tracking (UA-xxxxxx) with a Google Analytics 4 data stream (G-xxxxxxx) so that analytics data collection continues without disruption.
Google Analytics has moved from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4. Standard Universal Analytics properties stopped processing new hits on July 1, 2023, so any community still relying on Universal Analytics tracking must create a new data stream and update the IdeaScale Community with the resulting Measurement ID. Migrating does not delete existing Universal Analytics data; it adds a new, separate stream that continues forward in Google Analytics.
Role Permissions
- Workspace and Community Administrator : Manages the Google Analytics integration and enters the Measurement ID under Community Settings - Integrations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will switching to Google Analytics 4 delete existing Google Analytics data?
No. The migration adds a new Google Analytics 4 data stream alongside the existing Universal Analytics property; historical data in Universal Analytics is not deleted by this process.
What happens to Universal Analytics properties after July 1, 2023?
Standard Universal Analytics properties stop processing new hits after this date, which is why a Google Analytics 4 data stream and Measurement ID must be configured to avoid a gap in data collection.
Where is the new Measurement ID entered in the IdeaScale Community?
It is entered under Community Settings - Integrations >> App Directory >> Google Analytics >> Manage.
