# Footer

## All about community footer

| What is the Footer? |
| --- |
| The Footer is the section that displays a set of quick links at the bottom of community pages, giving members convenient, immediate access to key resources. |

The Community Administrator can reorder the footer links and add up to three additional custom links, controlling which resources are surfaced to members at the bottom of every community page.

### Role Permissions

1. Community Administrator: Can enable or disable the Footer, edit footer links, add custom links, and reorder footer links.

### Footer Edit Mode

The Footer can be enabled or disabled from Community >> Community Configuration >> Footer. It can also be edited using the Pencil icon.

When the Community Administrator selects the Pencil icon, the Footer editing page opens, where footer links can be reordered, certain links can be hidden, and up to three additional hyperlinks can be added to the Footer.

The following links cannot be removed or hidden:

- Copyright: Displays the latest copyright notice for IdeaScale.
- Accessibility: Displays a pop-up screen about 508 compliance.
- Idea Management: Navigates to the IdeaScale website page.
- Cookie Policy: Navigates to the IdeaScale Cookie Policy page.
- Privacy Policy: Navigates to the IdeaScale Privacy Policy page.
- IdeaScale End User Terms: Navigates to the IdeaScale End User Terms page.

The following links can be hidden:

1. Terms of Use: Navigates to the community's Terms of Use. This link can be renamed by expanding it with the arrow icon or hidden using the eye icon on the Footer edit page.

2. Contact: Navigates to the contact page where the information entered in the Footer edit page's Contact section is displayed. The Email Address, Phone Number, and Address fields can be edited using the expand arrow or hidden using the eye icon.

### Custom Links

The Community Administrator can add up to three custom links to the Footer from the Footer edit page. To add a custom link, select the Add Custom Link button; a new link module appears at the end of the existing links. Enter the link text in the Label field and the hyperlink in the URL field.

### Reorder Footer

The hyperlinks in the Footer can be reordered using the Grid icon (six dots). The Community Administrator hovers over the icon and drags each link to the desired position, then selects Save. The links appear in the Footer in the order set here.

### Exceptions

1. Label or URL field left incomplete when adding a custom link: The Footer cannot be saved until both fields are completed.

### Frequently Asked Questions

#### Can a hidden footer link be restored?

Yes. Links marked as hideable, such as Terms of Use and Contact, can be shown again from the Footer edit page using the eye icon.

#### How many custom links can be added to the Footer?

Up to three custom links can be added from the Footer edit page using the Add Custom Link button.

#### Can the required footer links be reordered along with the other links?

Yes. Reordering applies to all footer links, including Copyright, Accessibility, Idea Management, Cookie Policy, Privacy Policy, and IdeaScale End User Terms, even though these links cannot be removed or hidden.
