[Export Data](https://help.ideascale.com/community-settings-data?hsLang=en#export-data) # Export Comments ## Path and details about comment export ***Path: Workspace Homepage >> Navigation Panel >> Settings >> Community >> Data >> Export Data >> Comments*** | What is Export Comments? | | --- | | Export Comments is a Community Settings feature that allows the Community Administrator to export a community's comment data to a Microsoft Excel or CSV file, with the option to filter the exported data by campaign or date range. | The Community Administrator can export comment data from a community to a Microsoft Excel sheet or CSV file. Data can be filtered by a specific campaign or date range before exporting. --- ### Role Permissions 1. Community Administrator: Exports comment data from a community to a Microsoft Excel or CSV file and can filter the exported data by campaign or date range. --- TABLE OF CONTENTS Export Options Frequently Asked Questions --- ### Export Options The Community Administrator configures the following options before exporting comment data. #### Export Format Comment data can be exported in either of two formats: Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. #### Campaign The Community Administrator selects the campaign for which comment data should be exported. Selecting All Campaigns exports comment data from every campaign, including Archived Campaigns. #### Filter by Date Range Leaving the Filter by Date Range switch disabled exports all comment data from the beginning up to the current date. Enabling the switch allows the Community Administrator to specify a start date and an end date, exporting only comment data submitted within that period. #### Timezone The Community Administrator can select a preferred timezone for viewing the exported data, rather than defaulting to the community's default timezone. #### Include Comment Attachments Enabling the Include Comment Attachments switch exports all attachments related to the comments in a zip file and adds a second sheet to the exported report. --- ### Fields on Exported Excel Sheet 1 ![Screenshot 2024-09-23 at 8-39-38 AM-png copy](https://help.ideascale.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202024-09-23%20at%208-39-38%20AM-png%20copy.jpg?width=670&height=261&name=Screenshot%202024-09-23%20at%208-39-38%20AM-png%20copy.jpg) 1. ID: ID of the comment. 2. Parent ID: ID of the parent comment. 3. Author: Name of the author. 4. Author Email: Email address of the author. 5. Comment: Content of the comment. 6. Date: Date and time the comment was submitted. 7. Pinned: True if the comment is pinned, otherwise false. 8. Private: True if the comment is a private comment, otherwise false. 9. Stage: Stage at which the comment currently sits. 10. Idea URL: URL of the idea the comment is part of. 11. Comment URL: URL of the comment. 12. Comment ID: ID of the comment. 2. Author Email: Email address of the author. 3. File Name: Name of the attachment file. 4. Alt Text: Alternate text that replaces the attachment image if it fails to load. 5. Size: File size of the attachment. 6. Date: Submission date of the attachment. ***Note: The Idea Title and Idea Description columns display customized names if these fields have been customized in the Idea Submission Form*** --- ### Frequently Asked Questions #### What file formats are available when exporting comment data? Comment data can be exported as a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file or a CSV file. #### Does exporting All Campaigns include archived campaigns? Yes. Selecting All Campaigns exports comment data from every campaign, including Archived Campaigns. #### What happens if the Filter by Date Range switch is left disabled? All comment data from the beginning up to the current date is exported. #### Does enabling Include Comment Attachments change the exported file? Yes. Enabling Include Comment Attachments exports all comment attachments in a zip file and adds a second sheet to the exported report, listing details for each attachment. #### Will the exported file reflect customized idea field names? Yes.
