| Disable Commenting is a setting that prevents members from adding new comments on an idea, campaign, or funnel stage. |
By default, commenting is enabled on every idea. A Moderator (TO BE VERIFIED) can disable or enable commenting on an individual idea, and a Community Administrator can disable or enable commenting for an entire campaign or for the Ideate Stage of a funnel.
Role Permissions
- Moderator: Disables or enables commenting on an individual idea from the idea's More menu.
- Community Administrator: Disables or enables commenting for an entire campaign, and for the Ideate Stage of a funnel, from the campaign's edit settings.

Disabling Comments on an Idea
- Select More on the idea for which commenting is to be disabled.
- Select Disable Commenting.
A confirmation message appears at the top of the screen indicating that commenting has been disabled.
Once commenting is disabled, a standard Member no longer sees the Comment tab on the idea details page, and the comment input box and comment icon beside Subscribe to the idea (star) and More (3 dots) are no longer visible. Previously posted comments continue to appear.
Disabling Comments on a Campaign
A Community Administrator can disable commenting for a specific campaign by navigating to Campaign >> (select campaign) Edit >> Role and Permissions tab, turning off the Submit Comment switch, and selecting Save.
Disabling Comments on a Funnel
A Community Administrator can disable commenting on the Ideate Stage by navigating to Campaign >> Edit Campaign >> Workflow tab >> Ideate Stage >> Settings, turning off the Enable Commenting switch, and selecting Save. See Exceptions below for stage restrictions.

- Funnel Stage: Commenting can be enabled or disabled only on the Ideate Stage within a funnel; no other stage supports this setting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do existing comments disappear when commenting is disabled on an idea?
No. Previously posted comments continue to appear on the idea details page. Disabling commenting only removes the ability to add new comments and hides the comment input box and comment icon.
Can commenting be disabled on funnel stages other than Ideate?
No. Within a funnel, the Enable Commenting setting is only available on the Ideate Stage.
Does a standard Member see any indication that commenting has been disabled?
Yes. Once commenting is disabled on an idea, a standard Member no longer sees the Comment tab, the comment input box, or the comment icon on that idea's details page.
