Date formats vary by country, which can create confusion when entering or viewing dates in a workspace or community. IdeaScale addresses this with a date format selection feature in the Profile section, allowing each Member to choose the format in which dates are displayed for them.

- Member: Selects and updates a personal date format preference from the Profile Page.
- Workspace Administrator: Configures the default date format applied across the workspace for any Member who has not selected a personal preference.

Setting a Preferred Date Format
A Member can set a preferred date format by navigating to the Profile Page and selecting Settings, then Profile Information. Under Date Format, a Member selects a preferred format from the available options and the selection is applied to the Member's account.

Where the Date Format Preference Applies
Once selected, a Member's date format preference applies in the following places:
- Idea and Comment Date Stamps: Timestamps shown on ideas and comments are displayed using the Member's selected format.
- Date Type Custom Fields: Custom fields configured with a date type value display that value in the Member's selected format.
- All Dashboards: All the Dashboards - Idea Portfolio, Moderator Dashboard, Member Management, Campaign Management - display dates in Member's selected format.
- Exports and Reports: Reports and exported data that include a defined start and end date reflect the Member's selected format.
Exceptions
- No Date Format Selected: If a Member has not selected a specific date format in Profile Settings, the default format set for Workspace by the Workspace Administrator is used instead.
