| Dark Mode is a display setting that switches the IdeaScale interface between a Light and a Dark color scheme across front-end and back-end pages. |
Dark Mode is enabled from the Profile dropdown. It applies across every front-end and back-end page within the Workspace and Community, giving Administrators, Moderators, and Members a consistent viewing experience throughout the platform.
Role Permissions
- All Roles (Administrator, Moderator, Member): Can switch between Light and Dark mode from the Profile dropdown, regardless of role.

Enable Dark Mode
- Select the Profile dropdown, available from any page within the Workspace or Community.
- Select the Dark Mode switch to move between Light and Dark mode.
Note: The selected mode applies across all front-end and back-end pages within the Workspace and Community.
Front-end Pages
Dark Mode applies to the following front-end pages:
- Workspace Landing Page
- Homepage
- Profile Page
- Leaderboard
- Idea Details Page
- Custom Pages
- Campaign Pages
Register & Login pages
The Login page and the Registration page switch to Light or Dark mode automatically, based on the browser's preferred display setting, rather than following the Profile dropdown switch. See Exceptions below.
Back-end Pages
Dark Mode extends to the following back-end dashboards, allowing Administrators and Moderators to manage community activity in the selected display mode:
- Moderator Dashboard
- Idea Portfolio
- Members (Member Management)
- Campaigns (Campaign Management)
- Settings (Workspace & Community Settings)
- Reporting
- Translation Moderation (Workspace & Community)
- IdeaScale Whiteboard
Exceptions
Register & Login Pages: These pages display in whichever mode matches the browser's preferred setting, rather than following the Profile dropdown switch, since the switch controls mode only after sign-in.Frequently Asked Questions
Does Dark Mode apply to both Workspace and Community pages?
Yes. Dark Mode applies across every front-end and back-end page within the Workspace and Community, including administrative dashboards such as the Moderator Dashboard, Idea Portfolio, and Reporting.
Why do the Login and Registration pages not follow the mode selected in the Profile dropdown?
The Login page and Registration page appear before sign-in, so they follow the browser's preferred display setting instead of the Profile dropdown switch. See Exceptions above.
